Language is a tool I use liberally. This body of work takes seemingly innocuous wording and looks at the violence of their definitions. Following the overturn of Roe V. Wade I began to have a fascination with cushions — not as something soft but as violent, suffocating verb. Cushions became symbolic of emotional suffocation and invasion of intimate space. I began to create my own language using objects typically embodying softness.
